Now You Can Track The Spread Of Novel Coronavirus Across The Planet

The importance of information to the public with regard to life threatening virus, became patently obvious at the outbreak of the SARS Virus in 2002, emanating, like the current outbreak of a deadly virus, from China. During that outbreak, the lack of official information to the general public at the very beginning, ensured that the virus spread more quickly than the current epidemic in China and beyond.

With the British Government having now flown back some UK citizens to RAF Brize Norton they are facing criticism for the transfer by coaches of them up North to the Wirral's Arrowe Park Hospital. Giving the Nurses Home residents less than 2 weeks notice of having to move out and find their own alternative accommodation and risking the virus being spread across the UK, instead of quarantining them in the Brize Norton facility.

Now in the US, the Center for Systems Science and Engineering has launched a website that is tracking the spread of the deadly coronavirus as it makes its way from China to the world beyond.

It works by pulling data from the World Health Organization (WHO) -- as well as the centers for disease control in the US, China and Europe -- to show all confirmed and suspected cases of coronavirus, along with recovered patients and deaths. The data is visualized through a real-time graphic information system (GIS) powered by Esri.
